You are welcome…

We’ve heard it said a hundred times, if we’ve heard it once, “Jesus saves”.  And it’s true, He does.  But we think for too many of us the only part of salvation that we really think about is what Jesus has saved us from.

Just to be clear, what we are saved from is worth thinking about.  We’re talking about a life trapped in the coils of sin and separation from God with the only destination a fiery punishment at the end of the world.  And that’s just for starters.

The thing is, we think the other side of the coin deserves our attention as well.  In all the time that we’ve thought about what Jesus has saved us from have we ever stopped to think about what he’s saved us into?  As we’re saying, “goodbye,” to the life we once lived, we think it’s a good idea to look ahead and say, “hello,” to the life we now have.

So what is it that Jesus is saving us into?  We believe that more than anything else Jesus is saving us into a relationship with Himself, the Father, the Holy Spirit and his Church.  Take a look at the first few verses of the book of 1 John and you’ll hear the apostle John appealing to his readers to come and be part of their fellowship and then he promises, “Truly our fellowship is with the Father and his Son Jesus Christ.”

When we fell to sin, we fell away from God. Now as we’re saved from sin, we’re saved back into a relationship with the God we left.  And that’s what Church is to be a part of.  We’re a community rejoicing and growing in our relationship with God.  That’s what we try to have at Danbury-Bethel.  And while we’re still learning and growing, we can promise you that that’s what you’ll find when come and share a Sabbath with us.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
